Founded in 1850, the Pinkertons became prominent anti-union infiltrators and strikebusters in the latter part of the 19th century. When North America fractionated, many wealthy members of society turned to the agency for bodyguard work. While they maintain a presence in every functioning country of North America, the Pinkertons are most active in the Empire State and Industrial States of America, and indeed, are formally integrated as a branch of the government of the latter.
